Abstract:	The purposes of the research is to describe the use of picture series in improving students' ability in writing descriptive text. This research used a qualitative descriptive research method. The respondent of the research are an english teacher and seven grade students. The data were obtained from several instruments namely observation and interview techniques. The result of the study revealed that teaching writing by using picture series can improve students' ability in writing descriptive text. Specifically, they showed some improvement on process of writing and vocabulary, can increasing students ability interest and then picture series help students' abilitty in developing ideas. Moreover, the data from observation and interview showed benefits of using picture series such as can improve students' ability in writing descriptive text.
