| Abstract: | This research entitled ”The Teacher’s Method in Teaching Recount Writing”. Recount writing is one of the material in English learning and it is required in curriculum for junior high school in Indonesia. In general, teaching recount writing is same as other skills. Even though writing is considered as the last skill to master, it should not be underestimated. As one of the language skills, writing has always occupied a place in most English language course. In many classroom courses the emphasis is put on the written language. The main objective of this study is to find out the method used by the English teacher in teaching recount writing and the problems encountered by the teacher in teaching recount writing in SMPN 8 Cimahi. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative method. The instrument uses in this research is observation and interview. This study attempts to investigate the method of direct method on students writing skill. The sample of this research is 24 students of the seventh grade students at SMPN 8 Cimahi. The data is collected by conducting interview and observation to the English teacher. The result of this study showed that the method used by English teacher of SMPN 8 Cimahi in teaching recount writing is direct method. He also used some media in his teaching. During the teaching, he encountered some problems. They are in sufficient time management in learning process, the ability of unanticipated situation and incomplete resources material. To solve these problems, he motivated the students and administered direct method in learning process. |
