Abstract:	Students often find some problems when they want to explore their idea in writing and to express both their opinion and feelings in English. The objective of the research entitled "the application of inquiry method to improve students' english writing skills at the 7th grade students of SMPN 8 Cimahi" is to find out whether or not teaching writing descriptive text using inquiry could imporve students' writing ability, In this research, the writer used one group pretest-post test design dan quantitative research method. It could be concluded that teaching writing using inquiry could improve the students' writing descriptive text ability.
