Abstract: Vocabulary is the most essential in learning language. The Study Entitled “Improving Students’ Vocabulary With The Theme “Animals” Through Search Word Puzzle To The Seventh Grade Students” is conducted in order to find out whether word search puzzle has significant effect to improve students’ vocabulary mastery and it aims at revealing the implementation of the use of search word puzzle in teaching Vocabulary. The study involves twenty-seven junior high school students and one English teacher of MTS Nurul Hidayah Miftahurroja in academic year 2016/2017. The research method of this study is classroom action research (Kemmis and McTaggart 1988, cited in Burns, 2010) by using test, observation and interview as data collection techniques. The data from the instruments are then analyzed qualitatively. The findings present that the use of search word puzzle can improve the students’ vocabulary. The teacher can teach the vocabulary by asking the students to play the puzzle in learning process activity. Besides, the students are very passionate in learning activity. When the teacher used the search word puzzle and divides the students into some cycles, the students focus on breaking the puzzle to find out the vocabulary in the puzzle.
