| Abstract: | The objective of the research entitled “Improving Students’ Ability in Writing Descriptive Text Using Clustering Technique” is to know whether Clustering technique can improve students’ ability in writing descriptive text. This research focused on the implementation of students’ achievement on writing descriptive text using Clustering technique. The writer used Classroom Action Research (CAR) as the method of research. This research consisted of two cycles and each cycle consisted of four steps they were Planning, Acting, Observing, and Reflecting. The writer conducted this research in one month at SMPN 9 Cimahi. The population of this research consists 494 students, while the sample is 38 students. To collect and analyze data, the writer used writing test in pre-test and post-test. Based on the result of this research, the implementation of Clustering Technique in teaching descriptive text has shown an improvement. As can be seen from the data analysis that shows a significant improvement. The students’ mean in pre-test was 54.2. In the first cycle the mean score was 73.8. Meanwhile mean score in the second cycle was 84.3. It means that there was 19.6 points of mean improvement from the students’ score in pre-test to the first cycle and there was be 30.1 points of mean score improvement from students’ writing score in first post-test to the second cycle. The writer concluded that the implementation of Clustering Technique could improve students’ writing ability of eighth grade at SMPN 9 Cimahi. |
