Teaching reading recount text using snowball throwing technique to the eight grade stduents of junior high school in the academic year 2019/2020
The aims of this research are to find out the implementation of teaching reading
recount text using snowball throwing, to describe the students’ responses in
teaching reading recount text using snowball throwing, and to find the students’
difficulties in teaching reading recount text using snowball throwing. The research
is a qualitative research. The data of this research are taken from observation,
questionnaire, and test. The data are analyzed by using descriptive technique. The
result of this research showed that the snowball throwing technique was assumed
could help the students in their learning since almost all of the students showed their
interest to involve in reading class activity and they performed better work. From
the data of questionnaire it was found that the students’ response of snowball
throwing were good in reading recount text. In addition it was found that the
students have difficulties in learning. The difficulties are limited vocabulary,
pronunciation, grammar, and difficulties in answering some questions. Finally, the
snowball throwing could be recommended as one alternative language learning that
could be used by English teacher especially in reading class.
