Abstract:	SFL (Systemic Functional Linguistic) is one of the main functional theories of language. There are three metafunctions of language that SFL argues all natural languages have. The textual metafunction can be realised by theme system (theme and rheme). And theme and rheme can be analysed in report text. The objective of this research entitled “An Analysis on Theme and Rheme Used in Students’ Report Texts at the Second Year of MAN Cimahi” is to find out type of theme and rheme that most frequently used in students’ report texts at the second year of MAN Cimahi. The writer uses qualitative research design, or more specifically the descriptive method. Then, the population of this research consists of twenty students’ report texts and the samples are six students’ report texts. The instruments of this research are students’ report texts. The collected data are analysed based on Gerot & Wignell’s (1994) theory about theme and rheme. The data analysis shows that from three types of theme and rheme, two types are found in students’ report texts, they are seventy three (69%) clauses of one hundred and six clauses were included into ideational and thirty three (31%) clauses of one hundred and six clauses were included into textual. So, from the data, type of theme and rheme that most frequently used in students’ report text is ideational. It is because the students use circumstantial adjunct and complement to classify and describe the subject’s parts, behaviour, and qualities in report text
